Early Childhood Parent Educator

 School-based Family Center seeks a creative and energetic candidate, ideally a parent, for a 20-25 hrs./wk. position, with afternoon and early evening hours, serving families with children birth to age 5 in Newport.  Responsible for conducting home visits using the National Parents as Teachers curriculum, providing family support services, assisting with parent meetings and play groups, promoting programs, and recruiting participants.  Minimum of a college degree, BA preferred, in early childhood or related field and a combination of education and community work experience, including working with a multicultural and economically diverse population required.  Must have strong time management, organizational and computer skills.  Applicants with National PAT certification strongly encouraged to apply, but will train.  This position will be available for a certified candidate in September or a non-certified candidate in October after attending a week long training.  Must be a licensed driver with daily access to a vehicle and able to pass a criminal background check.  Bilingual and minority candidates encouraged to apply.
