Behavioral Health Clinician (EBCAP0096)

East Bay Community Action Program is seeking a full time licensed Behavioral Health Clinician for our expanding Behavioral Health Department. The licensed Behavioral Health Clinician will work with a multi-level team to provide clients with counseling services at our East Providence location. Provide a wide range of age-appropriate clinical services to one or more populations served by the organization (child/youth/adult/geriatric/addictions, etc.). EBCAP is an approved site for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide treatment planning, coordination of services, continuing evaluation of mental health and/or addiction disorders, outreach, and discharge planning for an assigned caseload. In addition to standard adult and/or children’s therapy, a Clinical Therapist may specialize in providing services to certain populations (youth, elder, addictions, etc). Conduct initial clinical assessments as assigned. 
  • Assist client in developing goals, strategies, and/or treatment plans by assessing family dynamics, socio-economic, and/or health factors causing levels of impairment or distress. 
  • Determine if and when a medication valuation may be necessary to complement psychotherapy and refer to Behavioral Health Prescriber. 
  • Educate clients in the process of treatment, overcoming obstacles, and resistance. • May conduct outreach services to the community including, but not limited to, crisis response, educational workshops or support groups, and/or presentations describing Behavioral Health services or clinical issues. 
  • Collaborate with other functional and/or specialty departments (addictions, elders, community support, etc.) as necessary to ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Employ age-appropriate treatment strategies (understands growth and development of individuals served).
  • • Utilize appropriate substance abuse interventions based on presented case information – (assists clients to recognize triggers, develop relapse prevention skills, and build support systems).
  • Utilize appropriate internal/external referrals based on presented case information.


  •  Masters’ Degree in Human Services field; independently licensed (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCDP, etc.) required. 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years post-graduate clinical experience – may specialize in certain populations (child, youth, adult, geriatric, addictions, etc.). 
  • Clinicians must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific, culturally sensitive assessments and therapies, as well as providing individual assessment, individual, family, and group therapies• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Bilingual and/or bicultural in Portuguese a plus. 
  • Maintain clinical licensure in good standing, and participate in continuing education activities
  • Must past appropriate background checks
