Medical Assistant, East Providence (FT) (EBCAP0071)

East Bay Community Action Program is seeking a Medical Assistant for our busy community Health Center in East Providence. The Medical Assistant position is full time (40 hours per week/32 hours per week). The ideal candidate must be able to work evenings and Saturdays on a rotational basis to provide services to our clients. In addition, be positive and enjoy working with multi-cultural and economically diverse children and families in providing comprehensive patient care using a care team model.

The Medical Assistant will provide support to providers in the day-to-day operation of the Health Centers. To aid in the Health Center’s function as a synergistic, harmonious and productive entity integrated and synchronized with other East Bay Community Action Health Services (EBCAHS) component functions to fulfill the goals and mission of the Health Centers and contribute to the overall mission, purpose and objective of EBCAHS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial assessments of patients including taking medical, social and psychological history.
  • Take vital signs such as blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, weight and height as needed, audiometry testing, Snellen eye chart testing.
  • Administrative and operational functions are required.
  • Warmly greet and intake all patients who arrive at the Health Center for their appointment.
  • Answer the phone in a warm and professional manner to schedule appointments or to take triage messages to give the triage nurse or any other Health Center staff member.
  • Assist primary care providers with all paperwork aspects of patient care.
  • Appropriately document in electronic health record.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Basic computer skills
  • Maintain current certification in CPR at the healthcare provider level of the American Heart Association
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle, as some transportation may be required
