Transgender Whole Healthcare

The Transgender Whole Healthcare (TWH) Program recognizes that transgender people are the experts of their own experiences, bodies, and needs. The “whole” in TWH refers to other important social determinants of health such as access to healthy food, housing, clothing, community integration, education, fitness, resources, and more. We also recognize behavioral healthcare as a core health service and prioritize this access. By connecting patients with the supports they need to lead healthy lives, we can help improve the whole health of our entire community.

People We Serve

EBCAP’s Transgender Whole Healthcare Program was developed by and for the transgender, nonbinary, gender diverse, and LGBTQIA+ communities. While the focus remains on gender affirming care, our services are designed to benefit everyone and reflect the needs, priorities, and feedback of the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

With the support of the Rhode Island Foundation and several community partners, TWH developed and conducted a statewide LGBTQIA+ Needs and Experiences Assessment (June through October 2024). The survey was created as a starting point with the intent to improve and repeat the assessment every other year — meeting the data needs and priorities of the LGBTQIA+ community with each iteration. Results of the survey were published in December 2024.
